IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack
Species: Duck
Canon: Ducktales 2017
Canon Point: Post Season 2 Episode 13

Character Age: 12. All her life, she’s been trained by one of the top agents of S.H.U.S.H., a very powerful spy agency meant to protect the world. As such, she’s been trained in several forms of combat, weaponry, and even how to attack people with mind games. She now travels all over the world with renowned adventurer Scrooge McDuck and his family, and as a result has encountered several life-threatening encounters of the mystical and mortal variety (and has eagerly enjoyed both).

CRAU: No
CRAU Explanation: N/A

Character Appearance: A small young white duckling with a bob of white hair/feathers, typically dressed in pinks and purples. Big wide black eyes, a beak for a mouth, typically shoeless and wearing a skirt. Always wears a pink bow on one side of her head.

Powers and Abilities: Webby has been trained her entire life to protect herself, from learning martial arts, to firing weapons, espionage, camping, and translating dead languages.. Her endurance and strength, as a result, are far above that of a normal little girl. In the show, she's been able to knock over fully-grown adults with a chest bump or a well-timed kick to the ribs. She's also able to keep up with (if not outright defeat) people who are more skilled than the average person, such as a super spy and an evil sorceress.

What Did Your Character Wish For? Webby wished to have Lena return to the living waking world, as she’s currently trapped within the realm of shadows… if not worse. Webby isn’t 100% sure where her friend is, but she’s very adamant that Lena is not dead. She just wants her friend back.

What Potion Did They Receive? The Scarlet Potion of Elemental Magic.

Did They Drink It? No. Drinking random liquids handed out by mystical creatures is not exactly considered wise, as far as Webby has been taught. While she is tempted, she’ll keep it tucked away until she can verify it’s safe, most likely by interactions with others who have drunk theirs.

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?
Given that Webby’s wish revolves around Lena, it’s fair to say it’s her. Lena was the first person Webby befriended outside of the mansion and that had no (as far as she knew at the time) connection to the McDuck family. Since Webby was already desperately lonely to begin with (twelve years locked up in a mansion with no friends will do that to a person) she immediately attached to this mysterious ne’er do well, this girl who played by nobody’s rules but her own and made her own adventure instead of seeking it out.

Lena always seemed ready to push Webby to limits she didn’t know she had, walking on the wild side and teaching her about teasing and sarcasm. Even when the truth was revealed – that Lena had initially befriended her to gain access to Scrooge McDuck – Webby still believed in Lena’s good heart and that their friendship was true. Tragically, this was proven true when Lena took a magical “bullet” for Webby, sacrificing herself to save her friend from the vile sorceress, Magica De Spell. Since then, Webby has vowed to find some way to bring Lena back from where she is, and give her the life and freedom Lena deserved instead of being Magica’s pawn.

As such, not only does Webby miss Lena immensely, she also feels guilty for never seeing the “signs” that Lena was being used and abused by Magica. While this experience has taught her about the magic of second chances, it’s also made her more desperate and headstrong towards finding Lena’s way home.

2. What are they most afraid of?
Being left utterly alone. As a result of growing up under Granny’s strict training, Webby wasn’t allowed to interact with the outside world, and couldn’t even get an emotional reaction of the other person living there, Scrooge McDuck. So when she was finally able to make friends with the triplets, bond with her idol Scrooge, and go on actual adventures outside, a new fear was implemented in her – she would be devastated if she was alone again, and doesn’t think she could handle it.

This fear has come to light several times, such as when she tried acting “normal” with the boys on a disastrous trip to Funzo’s, as she feared they wouldn’t want to be her friend if she was her usual self – despite the fact that being her normal self would rescue them from being kidnapped. This fear also allowed Lena more access to the mansion than others would get, as Webby dearly wanted to keep her friend and perhaps missed more of the obvious signs of Magica pulling Lena’s strings.

3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?
Emotionally – For all her training, Webby is still a sheltered little girl. Her usual emotion is sheer joy, and it can be difficult to change that, even when important situations call for it. But when she does feel other things, such as anger and sadness, she feels them very hard – her anger has her yelling, her sadness has her crying. She doesn’t know how to hold back when it comes to feelings, and doesn’t have the emotional maturity to realize why that’s important. Additionally, she’s dangerously curious about everything and anything, eager to learn something new despite (or maybe even because of!) how dangerous it is.

Mentally – Social skills weren’t on the training schedule, so Webby can have a hard time reading people, such as invading their personal space or asking invasive questions and not understanding why people would be offended. When it comes to mortality, much of the world is black and white to her, and it’s only recently she’s begun to understand that some areas and some people are gray. For example, if someone she likes and respects does something (Such as Scrooge going bananas for missing 87 cents) , that something must be good, and she won’t hear argument otherwise no matter how logical – her idol MUST have their reasons for it!

Physically – While Webby can take down adults, it’s usually out of surprise. She’s still a young child, and a duck at that – in canon, it’s shown that adult ducks are incredibly light and easy to pick up by taller species, as if they weighed little more than a ragdoll. Being a child, Webby’s even lighter, so she can be stopped easily if caught and knocked out.

4. What would make them happiest?
Aside from her wish being granted, she wants to be exactly like her hero, Scrooge McDuck – she wants to become a great explorer and adventurer just like him, discovering ancient cities and uncovering treasure while fighting off evil monsters and saving the world. In that same vein, she wants to be acknowledged by Scrooge as well – not just as an equal when it comes to adventures, but as a family member and someone he can be proud of.

One of her happiest moments was Scrooge telling Webby to call him Uncle, and one of her most devastating moments was when he angrily barked that she wasn’t family.

5. What’s their type for a lover?
Webby is rather oblivious when it comes to romance, even when another person spells it out for them – when Huey tried to explain the concept of a “Meet Cute” as Fenton and Gandra awkwardly flirted, she was just incredibly puzzled. But she also seeks it as another “adventure” to be conquered, and since she enjoys learning new things, is intrigued on how it works as a concept and is happy to learn more.

It’s very possible that Lena is Webby’s ideal for a significant other, but Webby hasn’t realized it yet, despite her giving Lena various pet names, describing her in incredibly poetic terms, and even claims that Lena has stolen her heart. That being the case, then Webby’s “type” are mysterious girls with wild and dangerous streaks to them with a hidden heart of gold.
